Tourist Couple Accused of Shoplifting in Patong and Linked to Suspected Theft in Rawai
Two foreign tourists described as a couple have been accused of shoplifting at a convenience store in Patong, Phuket. They have also been linked on social media to a separate alleged theft at a clothing shop in Rawai, where a pair of trousers worth 1,595 baht was reportedly taken.

The claims first circulated through social media, including a post on The Phuket Times Facebook page that shared an account from a Thai woman who said she witnessed suspicious behaviour at a convenience store in Patong.
According to the woman, she saw the two tourists placing several items inside a bag while browsing the shop. As they approached the checkout, she discreetly alerted a member of staff.
The woman claimed that when employees questioned the pair about the merchandise, both denied taking anything. She further alleged that a subsequent search revealed unpaid products concealed inside their bag.
A separate social media post later linked two tourists believed to be the same couple to an alleged theft at a clothing store in Rawai. According to the post, a pair of trousers valued at 1,595 baht was taken. The woman was accused of keeping watch while the man allegedly removed the item.
The post also claimed that the pair celebrated with a high-five afterwards, although this detail has not been independently verified.

On October 12, French-language outlet ZoneSamui published a report repeating the allegations about both incidents, citing social media footage and surveillance images. However, the report did not establish that police had confirmed the alleged thefts.
The tourists’ nationalities have not been confirmed. It also remains unclear when either incident allegedly took place or whether the businesses involved filed formal police complaints. No confirmed police action was reported in the information available.
