A theft case at a Porsche service centre in Phuket has been resolved after police identified a staff member who took a client’s luxury watch.

The incident involved a Rolex valued at nearly 500,000 baht, which went missing from a white Porsche Taycan GTS. The vehicle had been sent to a service centre on Bypass Road on March 23.
According to the owner, her son had borrowed the car the day before and left the watch inside a compartment in the centre console. She explained that she usually keeps small items like phone chargers there and does not normally store valuables in that space.
On March 24, she briefly accessed the compartment at a fitness centre and confirmed the watch was still inside. Later, after damaging a tyre, she arranged for the car to be transported to the service centre through her insurance provider.
While paperwork was being processed, the woman left the car key with gym staff. By the time she returned, the vehicle had already been loaded onto a car carrier and transported to the service centre. Upon arrival, a staff member drove the car off the carrier and assisted her with formalities.

Shortly after leaving, the woman realised the watch had been left in the car. When she returned to retrieve it, the item was missing.
Investigation and outcome
The owner suspected both the transport driver and the service centre staff involved. However, all individuals denied any wrongdoing and even allowed their belongings to be checked.

She reported the case to police and also shared the incident online, asking for the watch to be returned without compensation.
On March 26, her son confirmed that the watch had been recovered. Police were able to identify the suspect using fingerprints found inside the vehicle.
The person responsible was confirmed to be an employee of the Porsche service centre. The watch was returned after the evidence was presented.
Despite the family’s willingness to resolve the matter without compensation, legal proceedings are continuing. Under Thai law, theft is considered a criminal offence and cannot be settled privately.
