Phuket is preparing to host the fourth edition of the Peranakan cultural festival, which will take place earlier than usual this year. The Phuket Peranakan Festival 2026 is scheduled for April 3–5.

This year’s theme, “BLOOM – The Blooming of Peranakan Culture,” highlights both the visual beauty and cultural revival of Peranakan heritage. Floral elements, traditionally associated with Peranakan identity — especially in clothing — will play a central role. Organizers also connect the theme to a broader cultural resurgence and even reference the plum blossom season in China.

Although not officially stated, the festival coincides with the ongoing Thailand Biennale, which Phuket is hosting until the end of April. Some festival activities are expected to take place at Biennale venues.

April 3 – International Cultural Exchange Day

The opening day will focus on cultural exchange. A conference will be held at Sukho Pavilion, one of the Thailand Biennale venues. In the evening, a welcome reception and entertainment program will take place at Dragon Plaza in Phuket Town.

April 4 – Grand Street Parade

The highlight of the festival will be the large-scale street parade through Phuket’s historic Old Town. The procession will begin at 5:45pm from Dragon Plaza, near the Golden Dragon statue, and move along Thalang Road, Yaowarat Road, and Phang Nga Road, finishing at Chartered Intersection.

At 6:45pm, the main stage show will begin, featuring the headline performance “BLOOM Phuket” by the KT-KRATAE group.

April 5 – Dance and Cultural Performances

The final day will showcase traditional dance and cultural performances by Peranakan groups from different countries. Events will be held at two locations: Saphan Hin Park and the Lard Yai market in Phuket Old Town, running from 5:30pm to 7pm.

Organizers say the “BLOOM” concept symbolizes not only artistic beauty but also the continued growth of the festival, which is steadily evolving into an internationally recognized event.

The inaugural festival in 2023 received the prestigious Gold Pinnacle Award for Best Parade at the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) awards. Meanwhile, the 2025 edition made it into the Guinness World Records for serving the largest number of Hokkien noodle portions at a single event.
