Fuel prices in Thailand have surged dramatically over the past month, with diesel and gasoline costs rising by nearly 50% compared to early March.

The latest increase took effect on April 2, following a government-approved adjustment. According to official figures, diesel prices have climbed by approximately 48% since March 2, while gasohol E10 has risen by around 42%, bringing overall retail fuel costs close to one-and-a-half times higher than a month ago.
The decision was finalized during a meeting of the Oil Fuel Fund Committee (OFFO) held in Bangkok on April 1. Officials reviewed subsidy levels and contributions to the fund, ultimately approving another round of price increases.
As a result, diesel rose by an additional 3.5 baht per litre, while gasoline and ethanol-blended fuels increased by 1.2 baht per litre.
Updated fuel prices from April 2 are as follows:
Diesel B7: 44.24 baht per litre
Gasohol 91: 42.88 baht
Gasohol 95: 43.25 baht
Gasohol E20: 38.25 baht
Gasohol E85: 34.99 baht
Gasoline: 51.84 baht

Earlier in March, the Thai government attempted to stabilize fuel prices by maintaining subsidies and limiting retail increases. However, these measures proved too costly to sustain over time.
By mid-March, authorities began scaling back support, allowing domestic fuel prices to gradually reflect actual market conditions, including import costs, transportation, and refining expenses. This shift has led to the sharp rise now seen across fuel stations nationwide.
